FAQs

  • Reiki is a holistic healing technique that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words, 'Rei' meaning universal or spiritual, and 'Ki' meaning life force energy. This ancient system of energy healing aims to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being by balancing the energy centers in the body. It is effective even at a distance, as energy knows no barriers.

Reiki is based on the principle that all living things are made up of energy, and that this energy can be manipulated to restore balance and harmony. A trained Reiki practitioner channels this universal life force energy to the recipient, allowing the energy to flow through the body and promote healing. The recipient may feel sensations such as warmth or tingling during the session, and many people report feelings of peace, relaxation, and well-being afterward.

It's suitable for people of all ages and conditions and can help to reduce stress, relieve pain, improve sleep, boost the immune system, promote relaxation, and enhance overall energy levels. Reiki has been found to be particularly effective in treating chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. The technique has been studied extensively, and research has shown that it can be an effective therapy for a variety of conditions.

In addition to its physical benefits, Reiki is also known for its spiritual benefits. It can help to promote feelings of connection and inner peace, and many people report experiencing a greater sense of clarity and purpose after a session.

  • A Medium is someone with the ability to communicate with those in Spirit such as departed loved ones and Spirit guides. They can provide healing, answers, and closure via the delivery of their messages.

A medium connects with the sitter’s recognizable loved ones in spirit and gives enough detailed evidence to demonstrate that they’re really linking with a specific individual. It’s all about communicating with the dead, who aren’t really dead, as demonstrated by mediumship.

The emphasis of my work in mediumship is making connections with and delivering messages from people who are no longer living to those who still are.

While there are a few different forms of mediumship, I work as a mental medium, which means I communicate with Spirits through the use of telepathy. Spirits impress my mind and body with thoughts and feelings that come in the form of "clairs." I mentally "hear" (clairaudience), "see" (clairvoyance), "know" (claircognizance) and/or "feel" (clairsentience) messages from spirits.

I like to say that I act as the bridge between the spiritual and the physical world, with the intention of healing both worlds.

  • A psychic isn't necessarily a medium, but a medium is a psychic. This is an important distinction and a good place to start, because I meet clients all the time who misunderstand the difference and confuse the two.

Psychics tune into the energy of people or objects by feeling or sensing elements of their past, present, and future. Simply put, psychics rely on their basic sense of intuition and psychic ability to gather information for the person being read. A psychic will look into someone's life – their past, present, or future – and intuit information about a person.

Mediums take it a step further and use his or her psychic or intuitive abilities by tuning into the Spirit energy surrounding that person. This means Mediums rely on the presence of non-physical energy outside of themselves for the information relevant to the person being read. A medium senses, feels, hears, and sees those who have passed into Spirit.

While both psychics and mediums have extrasensory abilities, psychics focus on providing insight and advice while mediums focus on communicating with the Spirits of the deceased. Mediumship doesn’t involve predictions, or analysis of one’s career, finances, or love life and is much more involved than psychicism because a medium is opening him/herself to a discarnate energy.

  • The word “Chakra” comes from Sanskrit and means “disk” or “wheel” in reference to the energy centers located within the subtle body, a non-physical, spiritual aspect of a person according to traditional Indian medicine, also known as Ayurveda, and yoga. Chakras are believed to be located along the spine and each one is associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual functions.

There are seven main chakras, each with its own unique color, symbol, and characteristics. From the base of the spine to the top of the head, the chakras are:

    • Root chakra (Muladhara) - located at the base of the spine, it is associated with grounding, safety, and security.

    • Sacral chakra (Svadhisthana) - located in the lower abdomen, it is associated with creativity, sexuality, and pleasure.

    • Solar plexus chakra (Manipura) - located in the upper abdomen, it is associated with personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.

    • Heart chakra (Anahata) - located in the center of the chest, it is associated with love, compassion, and emotional balance.

    • Throat chakra (Vishuddha) - located in the throat, it is associated with communication, self-expression, and creativity.

    • Third eye chakra (Ajna) - located in the center of the forehead, it is associated with intuition, wisdom, and spiritual insight.

    • Crown chakra (Sahasrara) - located at the top of the head, it is associated with spiritual connection, enlightenment, and higher consciousness.

To function at their best, chakras need to stay open, or balanced. If they get blocked, the result may be physical or emotional symptoms related to a particular chakra. Balancing and activating these chakras can promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing and wellness.

  • Both Reiki and intuitive energy healing can be effective approaches to promoting wellness and restoring balance in the body, mind, and spirit. The choice between the two may depend on personal preference, as well as the specific needs and goals of the individual seeking healing.

Reiki is based on the idea that the practitioner can channel universal life force energy into the patient's body to promote healing and is a more structured practice.

Intuitive energy healing, on the other hand, is a more individualized approach to healing that relies on the practitioner's intuitive abilities. Rather than following a specific set of hand positions and sequences, the practitioner uses their intuition to identify areas of the patient's body that need healing and channels energy into those areas. Intuitive healing also works with your aura and your Chakras.

While both Reiki and intuitive energy healing can be effective forms of alternative healing, they differ in their approach and techniques.

  • I send a list of helpful tips once an appointment is booked to make it clear how to prepare for the best possible experience to get the most out of a reading. I encourage people to invest time reviewing the materials beforehand, so there’s no confusion when the time comes and I can focus on reading vs. explaining.

FOR ALL SESSIONS: It’s best to come to a session with an open heart and an open mind. Please be somewhere quiet where you will not be disturbed for the duration of the session.

FOR INTUITIVE ENERGY HEALING SESSIONS: I encourage you to come prepared with a couple of specific questions you’d like to ask, intentions, or topics you’d like to explore. Please specify if you’d like to spend more time on something (i.e if you’re looking for more Mediumship or if you’d rather have clarity on where you’re at in life). If you have no preference and just want to go with it and see what comes up, that’s great too.

FOR MEDIUMSHIP SESSIONS: If you’re hoping to connect with a specific Spirit, I recommend beginning to communicate with them in advance to open up the energy. Although I cannot guarantee I’ll make the connection with that specific Spirit, it increases the likelihood I’ll be able to.

FOR REIKI SESSIONS: Please be prepared to be lying down somewhere relaxing and comfortable where you will not be disturbed. If there are any concerns you’d like me to focus on and feel comfortable sharing with me ( be it physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional) please let me know before we begin the session.

  • As an empath, I’ve always been highly sensitive to energy. Every reading is different, but I use a variety of intuitive senses, including:

    • Clairsentience (clear feeling): Able to perceive information by way of emphatic feelings and emotions and to sense or "feel" within oneself the attitude or emotions of another person. I commonly feel others’ pain or emotions in my body as though they are my own.

    • Claircognizance (clear knowing): Able to acquire psychic knowledge without knowing how or why I know it. In other words, I will simply know things about someone or something despite having no context as to how I know them.

    • Clairvoyant (clear vision): Able to see with the mind’s eye objects, colors, symbols, people, Spirits, or scenes. My experience of this is having images flash into my mind’s eye, as though I’m watching a movie or a dream play out. It’s not like daydreaming or using your imagination, as I have no control over the images coming in.

    • Clairaudient (clear hearing): Able to perceive sounds or words from sources broadcasting from a spiritual realm. I will often hear a Spirit speaking to me as though we are having a conversation. With medical intuition, I will simply hear a specific word that correlates to the health of someone’s body or what is taking place.

    • Clairscent (clear smelling): Able to smell a fragrance or odor coming from the Spirit. This is the least frequently occurring of my intuitive senses but will often present as something to corroborate a story.

  • Full disclosure: I commonly forget to press record and would prefer if the sitter was responsible for capturing the reading.

I prefer you don’t take notes during a reading as it can detract from it, and I encourage you to use the voice notes app or any other recording device on your phone to record the session.

I think having the recording is important, as re-listening to the reading in the future can help you get so much more out of it or see things from a different perspective.

  • Although I love a good Tarot reading, I don’t use any tools outside of my intuitive senses in readings.
